... after months of applying for open positions, I interviewed for three in three days. Two were for leaves and the other a permanent sub. I got the permanent sub. Of course, the leaves pay more. I keep reminding myself it's a proverbial "foot in the door" but after in the field for six years, having three certifications as well as earning a Master's Degree (NY State insisted I get one to keep my certifications) I will make about 17k ... not good.
So now I have to somehow look at my "other"experience and start over. I have to start a new career and I really did not get a foot hold in my "old" career.... I am 40 years old, I am supposed to be a role model for my children. I encourage my children to get an education... and as my 20 year old told me, "Why so I can be like you not get a job in my field?" Touche my son...
Off to the Department of Labor to see if they can help me rewrite my resume because I have no idea how to pick apart the work I have done to make it fit as I have been told the "real world". Any advice? At this point in the game, I am open...
